When the course of a project boundary does not harmonize with terrain conditions, a non-standard design approach is required. This was the case with one of the projects overseen by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, where the amphibian protection system had to be adapted to slopes, culverts and precise execution guidelines in difficult, varied terrain. Thanks to a flexible approach and a well-designed system, we delivered a solution that ensured not only the tightness and durability of the structure, but also the smooth implementation of sections with a total length of as much as 2,600 mb.

WHO WAS THE CUSTOMER?
The general contractor for the investment we described was Strabag Infrastruktura Południe, while the principal was the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, Katowice branch.
The project involved the installation of fences for amphibians along the newly constructed road infrastructure, taking into account species protection, difficult terrain conditions and environmental requirements. Implementation involved a number of technical challenges that required a customized approach.
WHAT PROBLEM DID THE CUSTOMER FACE?
✅ Unusual field conditions
The boundary of the project ran between the slope and the line of the designed fence. This meant that it was not physically possible to install classic fences with a raceway along the entire extent of the route.
✅ Need for a variety of mounting solutions
In slope areas and at culverts, it was necessary to use fences without raceways to allow the structure to be properly anchored in the ground.
✅ Above-standard fence embedment depth
According to the design requirements, the fence panels had to be set as deep as 30 cm. This is much more than in typical implementations, which required the use of a properly adjusted structure and precise installation in difficult terrain conditions.
✅ Large scale of investmentTotal length of fences to be made was as much as 2,600 meters current, which required precise logistics and rapid response on the project site.
SOLUTION DESIGNED BY GEOGLOBE POLAND
In response to these challenges, we proposed the use of two types of fencing - with a raceway and without a raceway. This allowed us to fully adapt to local terrain conditions and functional requirements.
PARAMETERS OF THE FENCE WITH A HORIZONTAL RACEWAY:
✅ Above ground height: 50 cm
✅ overhang: 10 cm
✅ tread width: 20 cm
✅ the depth of the slab in the ground: 30 cm
✅ the depth of the post in the ground: 50 cm
PARAMETERS OF THE FENCE WITHOUT A RACEWAY:
✅ Above ground height: 50 cm
✅ overhang: 10 cm
✅ the depth of the slab in the ground: 30 cm
✅ the depth of the post in the ground: 50 cm
Both types are made of ABS plastic in black, which is characterized by increased resistance to deformation under temperature changes, which in the case of road infrastructure is important for the durability and stability of the structure.
THE END RESULT - WHAT DID THE CUSTOMER GAIN?
The use of two types of fencing made it possible to fully adapt the system to local terrain conditions, ensuring effective protection of amphibians and compliance with the investor's guidelines. Precise workmanship and thoughtful design translated into durability, tightness and smooth progress of work at each stage of implementation. What the client gained Geo Globe Poland?
✅ Effective protection and full tightness of the system
A variety of installation solutions made it possible to precisely fit the fences to the terrain, both in straight sections and in hard-to-reach places. This guaranteed the continuity and tightness of the entire system.
✅ Functional closure of the fencing system
U-turns allowed the fence lines to be closed in a safe and design-compliant manner. This solution effectively limits the possibility of animal migration outside the protected zone and ensures the integrity of the entire system.
✅ Tight connections to culverts
Precise prefabrication and fitting of the components enabled seamless integration of the fences with the culverts, minimizing the risk of gaps and escape points.
✅ Effective implementation under complex conditions
Despite the terrain challenges and the large scale of the project, the entire work proceeded smoothly and on time - in full compliance with the requirements of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways and the contractor's assumptions.
