Who was the customer?
Budimex - one of Poland's largest general contractors, implementing a key section of the S11 expressway on behalf of the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA). The project included the construction of a road connecting Koszalin and Zegrze Pomorskie, a section that is important both for the development of the region's infrastructure and the protection of its valuable natural assets.
BUDIMEX CUSTOMER PROBLEM:
- Threats to protected species during the implementation of an infrastructure project.
- There is a lack of effective solutions on the market that address the needs of unique species such as the tree riverine.
- Risk of delays and penalties associated with failure to meet environmental requirements.
SOLUTION:
First, we identified the client's needs, and then the design department prepared a tailor-made solution that was both effective and safe. In the next steps:
✅ We designed and manufactured dedicated herpetological fence, created specifically to protect a particular species.
✅ We used a waffled structure that effectively prevents protected amphibians from climbing.
✅ We provided Full compliance with regulations and meeting the requirements of environmental inspectors.

What problem did the customer face?
The project ran through an area of exceptional biodiversity, home to many protected species of herpetofauna, including the river frog (hyla arborea). This unique species of amphibian, known for its ability to climb on smooth surfaces - thanks to special appendages on its toes, posed a special challenge to standard solutions. Well, the appendages allow amphibians to climb on smooth surfaces, such as leaves, branches or even artificial structures. It is thanks to them that the tree frog has an excellent ability to grasp and hold onto various substrates. This situation posed a real threat to the population of this strictly protected species in Poland, and at the same time could lead to significant delays in project implementation.
An additional challenge for the developer was that none of the standard herpetological solutions available on the market met the environmental requirements. It was therefore necessary to develop a completely new, dedicated solutionthat would both safeguard the riverine population but also meet the requirements of environmental inspectors and stringent environmental regulations.
Solution designed by Geo Globe Poland
Using our advanced technological capabilities - we designed and manufactured a dedicated herpetological fence. Based on detailed design guidelines, we developed a fence with a waffle structure that prevents amphibians from climbing and eliminates the risk of them entering the project area. The entire implementation process, from concept to design to manufacture and installation of fencing along a 22.5-mile stretch of road, We carried out in our own facility. In this way, we ensured full control over the quality, consistency of execution and meeting the deadlines of such a complex investment.
The end result - what did the customer gain?
The client received a fence that 100% met both the investor's expectations and the stringent requirements of environmental inspectors. The population of the river frog and other protected herpetofauna species was effectively protected, and the implementation fully complied with environmental regulations (including the requirements of Natura 2000 areas). This avoided delays, additional costs and potential sanctions.
Thanks to our individual approach and technological capabilities, which allow us to design and produce customized solutions, we are able to meet even the most demanding projects - from the concept phase to final implementation.
